Boys start preparing for lacrosse season

Boys’ lacrosse conditioning will kick off after school on Friday, Nov. 8. The lacrosse team will also gain new a coach this year: Shane Cassell.

In the past, boys’ lacrosse did not hold conditioning before the season started. Many of the players believe that if they’d had conditioning last year their season would’ve turned out better.

“I believe that we really, really need some solid conditioning,” senior Ryan Bellone said. “We always got burned-out by the end of the first half and that can’t happen again.”

Along with the new season comes a new coach. Shane has been a lacrosse coach for eight years. He decided to coach at West Shore because he coached JV volleyball here and he wants to help improve another program.

“I am very excited to coach this season,” Shane said. “We have a great group of guys who have a lot of talent and we will definitely have a lot of fun this season.”

Senior Jack Moore believes Shane will bring a new light to the lacrosse field.

“Last year, when we played Mel High, we got to see how Shane handled their defense,” senior Jack Moore said. “I believe he will improve our defense significantly.”
