After taking a two-year break, Bruno Mars has decided to return to the stage in North America, Europe and the UK. Among the dates on this tour, Mars will perform at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, alongside Hard Rock Stadium in Miami from Sept. 12 to Sept. 20.
Announcing the album and tour through a simple Instagram post proves to fans that Bruno never truly left the spotlight, choosing perfectly timed collaborations and performances has kept his momentum going for years now.
Without releasing a solo studio album for over a decade, Bruno Mars released his album “The Romantic” on Feb. 27. Being Mars’s fourth solo studio album, “The Romantic” features nine songs, including the hit lead single “I Just Might,” bringing a jazzy pop style with Latin roots, which is a completely different sound from what he’s used to producing, like albums “24K Magic” or “Unorthodox Jukebox.” The opening song, “Risk it All,” captivates listeners and encourages them to hear more. The song is a melody appearing to be written for a partner of Mars with lyrics such as “It’s crazy, but it’s true / There’s nothing I won’t do / I’d risk it all for you.”
The upbeat rhythm and lively sound make it stand out and show how his music is evolving from strictly pop music to a more Latin-influenced style. However, Mars has tended to be awfully repetitive in his music style.
His music feels more like repetitive wedding-reception style music rather than fresh content. A clear and obvious example is “Why You Wanna Fight,” which brings very similar lyrics from songs off of previous albums, like “Gorilla” from “Unorthodox Jukebox.” Mars kept a good mix of upbeat songs that make you want to dance alongside more sentimental songs that make the album incredibly personal. As per usual, Ticketmaster has made it very difficult for fans to get tickets for their desired shows.
A total of 2.1 million tickets were sold on Ticketmaster for “The Romantic” tour, with the majority of his shows being fully sold out. “I really wanted tickets to see Mars in concert because I’ve been a fan for a really long time, but I lost the Ticketmaster war,” sophomore Isabella Sanchez said. Mars’ bold return to the music industry left an impressive mark and a sizable amount of anticipation for his masses of fans.
