Dance competition set for Monday

Taking the floor on Jan. 20, the Purrfections will be competing at the Universal Dance Association regional competition held at Seminole High School in Sanford.

“Personally, I hope to receive third or higher,” senior Brady Kelsey said. “There is going to be a lot of good teams this year, but we hope for the best.”

According to JV sophomore Ashley Norris the other dances are impressive to watch.

“I really enjoy watching all the other schools because they are really good,” Norris said. “I love watching the dancers solos.”

Due to the weather conditions, the gym floor might be slippery so the dancers are preparing just in case.

“Since it has been cold outside recently and it is suppose to be on Monday, we might wear one shoe so that we can protect ourselves from falling,” senior captain Keiran Sheridan said. “We have not done this before but we are planning on trying it out at the basketball game this week so we can get use to it.”

The competition begins at 9 a.m. for all middle school and JV teams. Awards for the middle school and junior varsity teams will begin at 2 p.m. The varsity teams will start performing after the middle school and JV awards are finished. The awards for the varsity teams will begin at 6 p.m.

There will be a spectator fee of $5. Food and drinks will be on sale at the concession stand, as well t-shirts on sale for anyone wishing to purchase.
