2014 graduate Richard Dujovne cuts loose at last year’s Prom.

The Junior Class is sponsoring a contest to design this year’s Prom ticket, with the winner receiving free admission to the big spring event. The competition will kick off Monday and run through Friday, and only juniors and seniors are eligible to participate. All entries must incorporate an Arabian Nights theme.

The ticket must include the date, time, and location of Prom on the front and an admittance number on the back. All design elements should be computer generated (images and text) to match the theme. Entries must not exceed 2.5 x 4.5 inches and must be rectangular.

The contest marks the second time this school year the Junior Class has solicited design ideas from outside the club.

“We had a student design contest for the Powder Puff T-shirts,” Junior Class President Marygrace Lally said. “It came out really great, so we thought it’d be a good idea to have more student involvement.”

Junior Class sponsor Jill Whitacre said she hopes the tickets will create a buzz.

“We are hoping the ticket design will get everyone excited for the theme and Prom,”Whitacre  said. “When you look at that ticket, it should just make you feel the theme and make you wonder what it’s going to look like when you walk into Prom.”

Whitacre has certain elements she would like to see in the designs.

“We are looking for something elegant, something with a little mystique and very unique,” she said.

Prom will be held April 5 at the Hilton Rialto in Melbourne and will start at 7:30 p.m. and end at 11 p.m.

All ticket-design submissions must be turned into Whictacre’s Room 3-205 by 3:30 p.m. Friday.
