Both the Men’s Jr 8+ and the Men’s Youth 4x placed first Saturday as Space Coast Crew traveled to August, Ga., to compete against teams from Tennessee, Georgia, Florida and North Carolina at the Head of the South Regatta. In addition, the Women’s Jr 8+ placed 13th, and Women’s Jr 4+ placed 13th, 22nd and 25th. The event marked the last regatta of the fall. Crew season will resume next spring with the first regatta scheduled for March 4 in Jacksonville.
The team traveled to Georgia a day early to practice on an unfamiliar course. Usually this time of year, Space Coast Crew makes a trip to Tennessee to compete in the Head of the Hooch.
“Usually we go to the regatta up in Tennessee, but with it being in Georgia it was a different environment and the weather was nicer,” junior Marissa Scalise said.
Senior Anna King, on the other hand, appeared was upset with the venue change, saying she was disappointed with the coaches’ decision.
