Senior Christian Camps had a big day at the Satellite track meet Friday.

Senior Jared Hayes placed first in the 800 meters and the 4×400 team consisting of Jared, seniors Christian Camps and Brandon Benitez, and junior Austin Hayes placed third at the Satellite High School track meet Friday. They ran against Eau Gallie, Satellite, Bayside, Melbourne Central Catholic and St. Cloud varsity teams.

“Everyone at the meet was hyped because it was the grand opening of Satellite’s new track, and we trained hard throughout the week,” junior Madhav Pamidimukkala said. “I got a time of 6:14 for the 1600 meters (mile) which is slower than I could have run, but it was my first time running the event, so I tried to keep a constant pace and not expend myself too much so I could understand the pace of the event.”

Sophomore Diego Vento also appeared hyped up for the event.

“Well it was a very large meet, and it was fun to see excitement in the crowd and competitors,” Vento said. “I know that some people on our team did very well in their event, and I am very happy for them.”

The teams’ next meet is at Merritt Island High School on Tuesday.
