The varsity volleyball team has been on a tear to open the year at 7-0. Sophomore Jordan Dale attributes the Lady Wildcats’ red-hot start to new head coach Shane Cassell and to good chemistry.

“The players get along great,” Dale said. “We’re a big huge family and we love playing on the court together. Shane is a great coach. He has been pushing us very hard to obtain success on the court.”

Sophomore Giao Huynh has excelled this season, putting together 61 kills, 8 aces, and 3.5 blocks so far, propelling her to win the Florida Today newspaper’s High School Athlete of the Week award.

“I think we work really well as a team, We’re all well-rounded,” Huynh said, “Our team is very balanced. It’s not just one player scoring a bunch of points, it’s a whole team effort.”

The Lady Wildcats look to continue their winning streak Thursday when they travel to take on Melbourne Central Catholic. The game is scheduled to start at 7:15 p.m.
