Boys’ soccer falls to Bishop Moore 2-1
February 3, 2016
The boys’ soccer team’s season came to an end Tuesday night in a 2-1 loss to Bishop Moore in the regional semi-final. Junior Nick Pekmezian scored the team’s only goal in the loss. The Wildcats finished their season at 17-2.
“We mentally were not ready,” junior Matthew Moscrip said. “We were playing their game instead of ours. They finished the few opportunities they had, and we didn’t. Their striker broke us down, and we didn’t come out strong in the first 10 minutes, and they got an early [goal] on us.”
Despite the earlier than expected departure from the playoffs, the team has very high hopes for next season.
“Personally, my goal for next year is to get better,” sophomore Brandon Benitez said. “As a team, we want to beat Bishop Moore and win state. I hope a lot of the underclassmen step up into the role the seniors are leaving vacant.”
