With finalists announced, senior Genna Owen helps to gather senior Samantha Grant’s art for the second round of judging.

The art students shone at the Space Coast Art Festival on Nov. 30 in Cocoa Beach, winning or placing in every division. These students’ art will be shown in the media center later this week. West Shore was awarded Best Exhibition and earned $100 that will go towards the art department.

“I think this may be one of our most successful years ever for art exhibitions,” art teacher James Finch said. “The judges were most impressed by the quality of both our students and their art.”

In digital illustration, junior Kelly Johnston won first place, senior Samantha Grant won second place, and junior Mitch Braun won third place. Grant also came in as an honorable mention along with senior Jack Dickens and junior Kevin Jones. In photography, junior Kaitlin Inganna won first place, junior Peyton Oller achieved second place, and senior Erica Denni won third place. In paintings, senior Valerie Kobzarenko won first place and seventh-grader Naya E. won second place, with honorable mentions going to sophomore Hannah Keats and Kobzarenko. Freshman Jim Reid also won third place in 3D/sculpture.

“I am very excited by how well the students did,” art teacher Matt Henderson said. “It was great for the students who were present and we dominated the art show.”
