Seventh annual Rubik’s Cube competition held this week
West Shore’s seventh annual Rubik’s Cube Competition is taking place during the last three days of school, May 27 through 29, in room 4-104 before and after school and during all lunches.
Junior Joe Along has been participating in the three by three competition every year since the seventh grade.
“My time is around thirty seconds which is pretty good,” Along said. “I learned one trick for solving it and over time I just got better and faster at it.”
Despite minimal preparation time, Along still manages to achieve a good placing.
“I used to practice every day in seventh grade, but now I just do it in the days before the competition,” Along said.

"In 7th grade I had signed up for a [field trip to] Canada but it was canceled because COVID pushed it off so much, so when Mrs. Pietrzak brought up that they were doing a D-Day field trip to Europe, I thought that was really cool and I knew that I definitely wanted to do a trip while I was at West Shore so I took the opportunity," Amelia Bailly '25 said.](https://westshoreroar.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/edbc27cd-da37-43d3-9ac9-0f38a21bbe02-1200x675.jpg)
