Boys’ basketball falls to Viera, loses win streak
January 17, 2023
The varsity basketball team walked out of the gym in disappointment Tuesday after falling to the Viera Hawks 70-46, ending a five-game winning streak. Sophomore Beau Couture said the Viera Hawks are a stronger team.
“Viera is one of the toughest teams in the county,” he said. They don’t have size on us, but they shoot and move the ball around really well which our team could use.”
Sophomore Jack Boucher said he feels like the loss was a result of Viera’s shooting ability.
“They were a good team and just beat us by making baskets,” he said.
Despite the team losing its winning streak, Boucher said there is always room for improvement.
“Next time we will fight harder,” he said. “They came out strong and we came out weak, and it carried through the whole game.”
Couture also agrees with Boucher on his plan for improvement.
“We all should just keep the same mindset going into every game no matter who we play,” he said.
