Walkout honors Parkland victims

Hundreds of students walked out of their classes at 10 a.m. Wednesday as part of a national remembrance of the 14 students and three faculty members who died in a mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., on Feb. 14.
Participants stood in silence for 17 minutes — one for each of the victims — wrote letters to Gov. Rick Scott urging him and the Florida Legislature to take steps to help ensure the safety of students.
