Eighth-grader Lexi V. goes for the ball in a game earlier this year.

Eighth-grader Lexi V. scored the only goal in the Lady Wildcats’ lacrosse loss against Viera 21-1 Monday night. The Lady Wildcats fall to 0-2 on the season with an earlier district loss against Melbourne last week.
Lexi V. is the leading scorer on the team with four out of eight of the team’s goals.
“To me, being the leading scorer on the team isn’t important,” Lexi V. said ” What’s more important is how well the team works together to reach our goal of winning a game this season. Considering our first two games were against very tough teams, I feel like the team did well, and I can tell that we have significantly improved from last season.”
Sophomore Mallory Chauvin appears optimistic for what this season will bring.
“I think a lot of the girls have more experience because they played on the team last year,” she said. “The team is showing more improvement at practices and over time, that will display more with in-game performance.”
The Lady Wildcats’ next travel to Holy Trinity on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
