Making sure the scale is correctly calibrated, senior Iksha Handa and junior Gabriel Carro measure the weight of their butterfly for their lab. The purpose of the lab was to measure the weight of the butterfly through each stage of its life from its hatching to its eventual hatching from its cocoon. “It’s really nice to see everybody’s butterfly just coming out one by one and how each caterpillar took a different lifespan,” Handa said. “I am proud of my butterfly. This is the second day we’re releasing butterflies so mine is an early bloomer.”
