‘Cats tame Lions

The Wildcat boys’ basketball team beat Covenant Christian Monday night, 68-62. Junior Juan Rodriguez led the team with 28 points.

“I think we could have done better as a team,” Rodriguez said. “It was only me and Evan scoring. We need to learn how to play together as a team, because if one of us has a day off, we’re just going to lose, so we need to get more contribution from the other players.

Second on the team for scoring was junior Evan Lanier.

“I scored 25 points,” Lanier said. “I’m mad, I think the bookkeeper messed it up, because I’m pretty sure I had 37 points. In the beginning, we didn’t think they were going to be too good. We were down by nine at halftime, then we started coming back. David [Thompson] was in foul trouble, and he got his tooth knocked back. Then Juan [Rodriguez] starts hitting a bunch of three point shots, probably three. Then they started fouling Juan, so he made five free throws. We won, so I’m pretty happy.”

The Wildcats next play Dec 1, in St. Cloud at 7 p.m.
