Holiday festivities begin at Barnes and Noble
November 30, 2015
The annual Barnes and Noble fund-raiser takes place Thursday at the West Melbourne store. Books will be read by aloud by Latin teacher Tim O’Flaherty and language arts teacher Jim Peterson. During the fund-raiser, members of the school orchestra, chamber choir, jazz band will perform, and select theater students will be roaming throughout the store dressed in holiday costumes.
“This fund-raiser helps literacy and some unique needs,” Assistant Principal Catherine Halbuer said.
A special Starbucks drink — a vanilla bean frappuccino with blue whip cream — created just for West Shore will be sold at the event.
In addition, flag winners from each home-room grade will be shown off and a final winner will be voted for at the event.
” Our flag was very artistic, and the whole class participated in the flag which made our’s stand out more,” sophomore Alexa Carlos said. “It was very creative and everyone had their own symbol on the flag.”

"In 7th grade I had signed up for a [field trip to] Canada but it was canceled because COVID pushed it off so much, so when Mrs. Pietrzak brought up that they were doing a D-Day field trip to Europe, I thought that was really cool and I knew that I definitely wanted to do a trip while I was at West Shore so I took the opportunity," Amelia Bailly '25 said.](https://westshoreroar.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/edbc27cd-da37-43d3-9ac9-0f38a21bbe02-1200x675.jpg)
