Lady Wildcats’ top Rockledge 5-1 in CCC play

Senior Elena Barr earned a hat trick by scoring three goals and and sophomore Maci Pekmesian scored two goals to add to the Lady Wildcats’ 5-1 victory over Rockledge.

With this victory, the girls’ soccer team clinched seventh place out of 16 teams in the Cape Coast Conference.

“I definitely felt confident going into the game because we beat them once in the preseason,” senior Alexa Carlos-Tamez said. “But I know a lot could happen over the season, so I know we had to continue to play hard. I’m happy that we ended up with the win.”

After being down 1-0 at halftime, the Lady Wildcats rallied back from the deficit to win in convincing fashion.

“Because of the early score we played frantically for the rest of the half,” sophomore Jonelle Plahuta said. “During the second half is when we really settled down and started to score and play our game.”
