NHS induction scheduled for Thursday

The National Honor Society fall induction ceremony will take place Thursday at 6 p.m. in the school auditorium. Applicants already have received letters notifying them whether they were selected for membership into the club.

“Our faculty council based their selection upon careful consideration of scholarship, leadership, service and character,” NHS sponsor Melissa Henderson said.

Sophomore Allie Kellner was one of those who was accepted.

“I was happy to receive my letter because NHS is something I have been looking forward to since I started NJHS [in middle school],” she said. “I am glad that I get to continue to help and support the community.”

Senior Eric Billhartz said the inductees won’t regret joining the club.

“Some of the community service required turned out to be fun and the Random Acts of Kindness we’re doing this year are good deeds,” he said.

Henderson said the club builds character and she encourages students to apply next year.

“I have found that students who are in NHS tend to stay in academic clubs at college,” Henderson said. “NHS is also a prestigious club and that’s why it looks good on a college application.”

Inductees are expected to dress formally and arrive 15 minutes early.
