Former MSSGA president provides insight

This year’s middle school Student Government Association leaders have some big shoes to fill considering the former president, Rachel Montgomery held the office for the full two years. It was the first time in school history that a seventh-grader had taken the lead as president over an eighth-grader.

Due to the experience Montgomery has practiced the past two years, she shared her input.

“The elected leaders are doing a great job leading and helping the student body,” she said. “The current president, Dylan Gornto was the vice [president] last year, so he already has experience in a leading position and knows what to do.”

However, Montgomery said there is always room for improvement.

“I would recommend that they involve middle-school SGA in as many ways as possible,” she said. “I remember last year we had a food drive and gave speeches. When they had their dance, I didn’t see any signs around school or see anything on the announcements promoting the dance, so I feel that they could work harder in that area.”

Middle school SGA will meet Friday at 8 a.m. in the media center to discuss and schedule various upcoming events leading up to their next dance.
