Students express excitement for NFL playoffs

As the National Football League playoffs continue after a reportedly surprising Wild Card weekend, freshmen Tristan McLaughlin, Travis Davis and William Corry, express different levels of interest and devotion to their teams.

“I’m not the biggest football fan,” Corry said. “[But] I still feel the excitement from around the school and the amount of discussion or predictions that have been occurring.”

Unlike Corry, Davis says he is extremely excited for the playoffs and makes predictions about the games.

“I believe the [San Francisco] 49ers  have a good chance to win [against the Dallas Cowboys] this weekend,” Davis said. “I am ready to sit back, relax and watch the playoffs with my family. ”

McLaughlin said he is the most excited to see all the games unfold.

“There are some interesting matchups that I can’t wait to see,” McLaughlin said. ” Even though the [Miami] Dolphins  and [Tampa Bay] Bucs got out in the Wild Card Weekend, there are still some great games coming up.”

He also is excited to show his support for the NFL playoffs at home.

“Me and my dad are already making preparations for the playoff night,” he said. “Overall, I can’t wait for football time.”

The Jacksonville Jaguars will take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and the Buffalo Bills will play the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday at 3 p.m. in the AFC Divisional round. The Philadelphia Eagles will play host to the New York Giants at 8:15 p.m. Saturday and Dallas will travel to San Francisco for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff in the NFC Divisional round.
