Dancers honor lone senior on team

The Purrfections dance team celebrated senior Kensington Girello at the boys’ varsity basketball game on Jan. 6. Varsity cheer and dance held their Senior Nights at the same time meaning dance could only perform for JV.

“I feel Senior Night went pretty good, although I would’ve liked to dance during it,” seventh-grader Lucie P. said.

Before the night began, the team got together to have dinner and give Girello gifts.

“My favorite part was giving Girello her gifts because I know that’s something she will keep for a long time,” freshman Ava Renee said.

After dinner, the team started to get prepare for their dance when two seniors from last year also surprised Girello by showing up to the game.

“It was a bittersweet reunion and many tears were shed,” Girello said, ” It really made my whole night.”

While only one dancer is leaving this year, the team says she is still leaving a significant impact on everyone.

“Kensey is an amazing dancer and I think without her will have to improve our technique greatly since most of our team is younger girls,” Renee said.
