Summer break, eagerly awaited by students, provides a crucial window for prioritizing mental well-being. This period of respite from academic responsibilities offers an invaluable opportunity to rejuvenate and recharge.

“I believe [summer break] improves my mental health so much,” sophomore Chandra Sree said.

Summer break allows students to distance themselves from the pressures of school, exams and assignments. By taking a step back from academics, they can focus on self-care and relaxation. This dedicated time for mental recuperation significantly enhances overall well-being.

“It’s like a break from everything school-related and it feels so nice to just relax and not worry about school,” Sree said. “I’m planning to stay in Melbourne and spend as much time as I can with my friends.”

Maintaining good mental health during the summer break requires a proactive approach. Engaging in outdoor activities and keeping busy can be beneficial for students. Things such as physical exercise and pursuing hobbies help to promote a positive mindset and overall well-being.

“All the stress from school is just lifted off my shoulders and I feel no pressure to do anything,” sophomore Cameron Coalter said. “To keep my mental health right, I plan on being outside a lot and keeping busy. As long as I don’t sit inside for days on end, my mental health should stay good.”
