Space Coast Crew struggles against Pine Crest

Space Coast Crew traveled to C-54 canal during the weekend to compete in its annual regatta against Pine Crest, which SCC expected to win. The regatta was a shirt race which means the boat that wins the race receives the other team’s shirts.

Senior Lily McKnight talked about how the bottom half of the men’s team outperformed the top half.

“Overall, SCC did fairly OK,” McKnight said. “There were some bumps in the road for the V8 and 2V on the men’s team losing to Pine Crest, the 3V and 4V  did exceptionally well with the 3V beating the 2V with a finishing time of 4:56.26 and the 4V tying the 2V with a 5:11. The 5V was able to win with two new middle-school rowers in the boat. Although we didn’t get our shirts, we still a fairly good regatta.”

Eighth-Grader Iris O. said the women’s team didn’t do as well as expected.

“I we like we did pretty good, but we could’ve done better,” she said. ” We got second in the Frosh 8 but we still have to give up our shirts  because Pine Crest’s other boat beat us.”

Space Coast Crew will travel back to C-54 canal to compete in the East Districts regatta April 7.
