Lady Wildcats basketball beat Merritt Island High School

Sophomore Mary Billhartz carried the girls’ varsity basketball team to a 34-24 victory against Merritt Island, leading in scoring with 11 points and 3 steals on Nov. 25 in the Merritt Island gym.

“I think that the team worked together really well,” Billhartz said. “We kept the game at a fast pace and played really good defense. Merritt Island only scored 5 points in the second half.”

Junior Gillian Foster helped with 8 points, 3 offensive rebounds and 2 steals. The next game is away at Rockledge on Dec. 2 at 7 p.m..

“Rockledge is going to be hard to beat this year,” Foster said. “They have a really good team this year. The team has played well against them in the past, but this year they are going to be stiff competition.”

The Lady Wildcats’ next game is at Rockledge on Dec. 2 at 7 p.m..
