As the season came to an end, the girls varsity basketball team held its banquet on March 8.

“We had a great program banquet on March 8 with all the teams at Tuscany Grill,” Coach Hugh Bain said. “It was our largest banquet to date with 85 players, parents and coaches and our trainer. Everyone enjoyed the banquet, socializing and having fun, and most importantly we were able to recognize all our awesome players and their contributions to their respective teams.”

During the banquet, awards were given to deserving players.

“Each team had the Most Valuable, Wildcat and Most Improved awards,” Bain said. “For varsity, Erynn Moffett received the MVP and Chloe Garoust received the Most Improved.”

Chloe Garoust was surprised when her name was called.

“I worked hard during the season but I just wasn’t expecting to get an award,” she said.

Even though this could have been a sad night for the seniors on the team, the juniors used the banquet as an opportunity to end the night on a high note.

“We also had the juniors roast the seniors with a speech and a presentation,” Bain said. “Then our seniors gave their own speeches to close out the night.”

With the end to this season, the team had to say goodbye to two seniors, Abby Hedrick and Anylah Rembert.
