Cast of “The Little Mermaid” reflects on production

Following her final all-school musical production, senior Sofia Palermo, who played Ariel, reflected on the challenges and joys of embodying the iconic character in the fall musical “The Little Mermaid”. The three showings sold out. Balancing a demanding schedule, Palermo said she found connection and freedom in the emotional depth of songs such as “Part of Your World”.

“There were a lot of memorable moments throughout the production,” Palermo said. “I feel like because this was my last all-school musical, I really got a lot closer to both the cast and crew.”

Junior Evy Nigh said she found a challenge in balancing being a cast member and working on the choreography for the show.

“The most memorable moments working with this cast were how supportive and sweet everyone was, especially while managing the responsibilities of my role,” Nigh said.

Senior Arvin Navarroza, who played Sebastian, said he enjoyed the audience interaction despite having a wardrobe malfunction during the last show.

“The audience loved and laughed at everything, especially when I ran into the audience,” Navarroza said. “I didn’t realize until after the show, but my pants were ripped at my butt for like the entire last showing.”

Senior Lillian Goodman, who played Ursula, said she felt pride in seeing the rising talent in the theater program.

“A memorable moment for me was connecting with the middle schoolers and freshman and seeing them grow as actors,” Goodman said.
