Camps brothers take on North Carolina

Sophomore Christian Camps and senior Austin Camps competed at McAlpine Greenway Park in Charlotte, North Carolina for cross-country. They raced at the Footlocker South Regional which is a qualifier for Footlocker Nationals, the biggest race in the nation. While neither of the brothers made it to the finals, both are grateful for the experience.

“This was my first year doing the race and I am glad that I decided to do it this year,” Christian said. “I ran 17:27 (5k) which wasn’t quite what I had hoped for, but the whole experience made up for it.”

His brother Austin, who ran a 16:46 5k this past weekend, has run this race for a few years now.

“This is one of my favorite races every year,” Austin said “The temperature is usually nice and cool which, for me, is perfect conditions. Although this year it was pretty dry and dusty and that messed me up a little.”

Now that cross country is officially over, the focus is shifted to track which starts in the spring.
