Fellowship of Christian Athletes spreads cheer with greetings

As chaos runs amuck on campus, Fellowship of Christian Athletes has taken action to fight the lurking sorrow among employees and students alike.

Teachers, administrators, and students around campus have recently struggled with sickness and are mourning for loved ones. In an effort to spread encouragement and cheer, FCA distributed cards at a club meeting for all to sign. Members were encouraged to include their condolences and spread get-well wishes for senior Cortney Vanover, math teacher Annabelle Nery, custodian Derrick Hamilton and math teacher Jill Whitacre.

“Making cards was a nice way for us to show God’s love around us,” Senior and club president Melinda Silaghi said. “[The cards] tell people that we care about them and that they’re in our thoughts and prayers.”

The cards were signed one-by-one at last Friday’s meeting: wrapped in envelopes with special messages of love from students. They are currently being distributed by FCA leaders. Sophomore and FCA member Kyle Caudill expressed his thoughts concerning the project.

“I hope the cards we made will impact the school and the people within it,” Caudill said. “We’ve been praying for [the people we sent the cards to] and we want to support them because they are part of what makes our school so great.”

FCA continues to meet every Friday in Mrs. Jerdon’s classroom (4-20) and all are invited to attend.
