Shiny surface
Painting a glossy finish onto his abstract sculpture, junior Evan Johnson concentrates on creating an smooth surface that will later benefit his project when he uses acrylic paint to embellish it. “I created an abstract elephant because they’re my favorite animal,” Johnson said. “I’m going to make it really colorful so that it doesn’t look like a normal elephant.” The art students work on multiple projects throughout the year that enhance their newly learned skills and give the students a chance to develop their own artistic imagination. Each completed project is added to the students’ art portfolios, which are kept to show progress throughout the year.
