Senior Emily Oliver is making a Senior Project that will be more than just a project for some kids in need. Oliver is hosting a 5k where the funds will be sent to Soles4souls. She came up with the idea because of her passion for running.

“I love to run,” Oliver said. “That’s why I chose a 5k. It’s my thing.”

Soles4Souls turns unwanted shoes and clothing into opportunities by keeping them from going to waste and putting them to good use. Hosts will donate money that will be used to those who need it.

“I’m a shoe drive host now,” Oliver said.

Oliver’s project is so unusual that even her teacher Adrienne Gent has never seen before, mostly because most kids don’t donate money as a part of their project.

“So that’s a distinct difference,” Gent said. “It’s going to be more coordination of people, rather than an individual product type of thing.”
