With the release of “Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope” on the Nintendo Switch on Oct. 21. Many fans have been rejoicing over the game, which has an 86 on metacritic which is 1 point higher than the previous game “Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle.” The game which has been rated by the ESRB for ages 10 and up is a tactical turn based strategy game which crossovers Mario and Rabbids.

“But I have never ever considered playing ‘Mario+Rabbids’ or will ever consider to buy it, and same goes for the sequel. To me it just looks weird, the fact that Rabbids are colliding with Mario,” said seventh-grader Ryan Y., who is a huge fan of Nintendo games. “I have played played previous Mario games. I’ve played “Super Mario 64,‘ ’Super Mario‘ for Wii and Wii U, ‘Mario Kart,’ all platforms except 64 and ”Super Mario U’ as well”.

The game is unusual compared to other Mario games since it is a strategy game and not a platform many fans may feel this game is not the Mario game they want.

“Although I haven’t played any Mario + Rabbids games, I have heard about it,” freshman Elena Konicki said. “I like the idea of a blend of two different video games.”

Konicki however said she does not plan on buying the game since she has a preference for older Nintendo titles such as the original “Super Mario Bros.”

“I haven’t gotten the new Mario + Rabbids game but I’m planning on getting it soon, despite the frankly strange crossover. The first game was a gem on the Nintendo switch console,” freshman Robert Santiago said. “I’m a huge fan of Nintendo and despite some of their shortcomings they have made great games over the past years like ‘Breath of the Wild.’”
