JV cheerleading rounding into shape

With basketball season underway, the JV cheer team is working to improve its routines.

“We’re working really hard on strengthening some of our stunts and really sharpening our dances so that when we go out on the floor, we can look our best,” freshman Hannah Jones said.

Eighth-grader Carina W. agrees.

“JV is trying to improve more this year by working on making sharp motions and using loud voices when cheering,Carina said.

Jones said the team has became closer despite adding several new members.

“In the beginning we barely knew each other at all,” Jones said. “Now we know each other very well and know what makes each other tick and how to build each other up.”

According to Carina, some of the new members have cheer experience, and those who don’t are adjusting well.

“They have learned a lot in just a few months,” Carina said. “They learned many stunts and jumps and how to be a good cheerleader.”
