The Purrfections dance team performed at the FBC Mortgage Stadium for 44,800 people during halftime of the University of Central Florida’s football game against Navy on Nov. 19.

“I think this was an enjoyable experience for me and my teammates because we got to do the thing we all love in front of thousands of people and the game was broadcast on TV,” freshman dancer Ava Renee said.

The Purrfections performed with approximately 12 other high school teams from throughout Florida.

“We even got featured on the jumbotron because of our neon pink pom poms,” freshman Cora Pearson said. “It was super cool.”

Although the University of Central Florida lost 17-14, the Purrfections said they still had an amazing time, despite their music cutting out for an unknown reason.

“I definitely wish the music hadn’t cut out 10 seconds into dancing,” sophomore Allie Ward said. “We were a little off count, but you can’t do much when there’s no music.”
