The boys’ lacrosse team is trying out a program where kids who haven’t played the sport before can try it out and learn the fundamentals before getting out on the field.
“The program will help a bunch of younger kids learn the game, which within a couple of years will make a team that’s experienced and already bonded together,” sophomore Michael Carroll said.
Head Coach Brian Carroll said he is optimistic for the opportunities that can come from the program.
“It’s a developmental program for 7-9 graders who don’t have much experience,” Brian Carroll said. “I hope I can be able to turn it into an actual JV team, which will feed into the varsity program.”
By working on passing, shooting, catching and knowledge of the sport, Brian Carroll said the potential for the future of the team is much higher.
“We need to take advantage that we have young athletes ready to play a sport,” Brian Carroll said.
The boys’ lacrosse team ended their season last year with a record of 12-3. Their schedule for this upcoming season has not been determined yet.
