Over winter break, boys’ basketball took a trip to Port St. Lucie for the Jaguar Holiday Tournament, which took place at Port St. Lucie High School.
The tournament consisted of eight teams ranging from central to south Florida. The Wildcats won 48-44 in their first game against John Carroll Catholic, with senior forward Beau Couture scoring 20 points on Jan. 2 to put them into the winners bracket of the tournament. The team then lost 60-24 to Palm Beach Lakes on Jan. 3, followed by a 56-42 loss to South Fork on Jan. 4, finishing fourth overall in the tournament.
Also over the break, the competitive cheer team traveled to Avon Park High School for a competition where they took first place in Traditional out of eight teams and first place in Game Day against another team.
Back at the Shore, girls’ basketball lost 57-10 to Space Coast on Jan. 6 to put their record at 2-6.
The following day, boys’ basketball went on the road to Rockledge and lost 49-36, with sophomore guard Nash Fieldler scoring 11 points, placing their record at 5-6. Also on Jan. 7, boys’ soccer took a victory in the first round of the inaugural Cape Coast Conference (CCC) soccer tournament 2-0 while away at Heritage. Senior midfielder Athan Zaiden scored two goals, both assisted by junior midfielder Diego Prieto. Their record rose to 5-7.
Girls’ soccer lost to the Satellite Scorpions 6-0 in the first round of the CCC tournament. This puts their record at 4-3-6.
Tonight, boys’ soccer takes on 7-3 Viera for the second time this season in the semi-final of the CCC Tournament, and girls’ basketball plays 7-6 Viera in the first round of the CCC tournament, both on Jan. 9.
To close the week, boys’ basketball faces 5-7 Satellite for the second time in the first round of the CCC Tournament. In their previous meeting, the Wildcats took the win 61-60 in overtime.
