Volleyball season kicks off with preseason jamboree
Hannah Krasny, the volleyball team’s lone senior, along with the rest of her varsity teammates will travel to St. Cloud High School to participate in their annual pre-season jamboree. The team will play eight games to 25 points.
“I’m really excited to see how the young players have grown and improved,” Krasny said. “This is the first time that I have been the oldest one on the team and played with a bunch of younger players, its surreal.”
The team graduated six seniors last year but had a very successful season, finishing 21-6 and losing in the first round of regional play.
The team looks to replace Aalaehya Tenali, Alyssa Johnson, Kylie Wenger, Tess Sheets, Amanda Farthing and Diana Sheedy but Krasny is aware that they’re facing an uphill battle.
“We’re gonna have to be tough this year and work on our communication,” Krasny said. “With several players coming up from JV, the speed of competition will be a drastic change for them, and communication is key.”
The Lady Wildcats, who are again coached by third-year head coach Bonnie Priester, open regular season play on Wednesday, Aug 28 at home against the Edgewood Indians. Freshman play begins at 5:15 p.m., junior varsity at 6:15 p.m. and varsity at 7:15 p.m.
