Girls’ soccer teams crush Titusville

Junior Ashley Pekmezian scored the first goal with a header and senior Jenna Forry scored four more in the second half as the varsity girls’ soccer team crushed Titusville High 5-1 in their second game of the season Friday night. The junior varsity succeeded as well, defeating the Lady Terriers 2-0.

“It was our first challenging game,” junior Ashley Pekmezian said. “I think everyone really stepped up their game in the second half and pulled through for the win.“I’ve scored a header goal before. This one felt good because it was the first goal of the game and my first goal of the season.”

Forry felt just as excited about the victory.

“I came out in the second half ready to win,” she said. “And we did just that.”

The Lady Wildcats took awhile to get rolling.

“I was pretty nervous in the beginning because it was 0-0 for a while, but we definitely stepped it up in the second half and we came out on top,” senior Brianna Basta said.

Despite the slow start to the game, Basta remains optimistic about the rest of the season.

“Even though we lost some key seniors from last year, we still look strong and the two consecutive wins without a doubt helps our drive,” Basta said.
