Girls’ lacrosse loses rough game

Satellite’s Lady Scorpions defeated the girls’ lacrosse team 16-9 Tuesday night. Even with Christine Sherry scoring three times and Emily Davidson scoring twice, the Lady Wildcats fell short.

Sophomore Emily Davidson appeared unhappy after the game.

“They played extremely dirty and the referees still didn’t call Satellite for the foul play, but we still worked as a team and tried are best to win” she said.

Sophomore Sierra Purden also agrees that the opposing team was playing dirty and the referees weren’t calling any fouls. One of the referees’s handed West Shore sophomore Sierra Purden a red card and accused her of pushing one of players in the back, but Purden said Satellite players elbowed her in the chest and has a mark to prove it.

“After the game I showed the referees the mark and a picture of the opposing player elbowing me, but he is still going with his word and I have to sit out next game due to the call,” Purden said.

Coach Sheila Owen said she’s proud of the Lady Wildcats for playing a clean game and not retaliating.

“The girls played a great game and listened and followed my directions and conducted great plays,” Owen said.

The JV Lady Wildcats will take on the Lady Commodores at Eau Gallie High School today at 5:30 p.m.
