Dance team heads to regionals

The Purrfections dance team is getting ready to compete at the Florida Regional Championship. The competition is being held at ESPN, Wide World of Sports in Disney on Monday.

“We have been attending the Regional Dance competition for eight years. Every year we bring our varsity dancers and middle-school team,” Coach April Shaw said. “We do better as a team each year and place higher. We hoping to keep that going, but as long as they just do their best I will be happy no matter what.”

Last year the varsity Purrfections placed second in their jazz division and sixth in their pom.

“I have been on varsity since I was a freshman and each year at regionals we do better. My first year we got fourth, then third my sophomore year, second my junior year and hopefully first my senior year,” Megan Ward said. “[But] even though it would be awesome to place first this year, placement is not the most important factor. As long as we perform our best, I will be happy for myself and my team.”
