Boys’s soccer steamrolls Astronaut

The boys’ soccer team dominated Astronaut Friday night, defeating the War Eagles 9-1 with the game ending 10 minutes early.

“We played well in the game,” junior Liam Wiles said. “The team wanted to bounce back from losing to MCC  Tuesday and have a good performance which could be seen through the game when we worked hard and played well together to get the win.”

Wiles said the team experienced some rough patches during the game as well.

“There was a mistake in the back with the goalkeeper which lead to an opposing player taking the ball wide and then chipping our keeper,” Wiles said. “After that, the team took the game a little more serious because we realized if we didn’t focus the opposing team could possibly score again.”

Wiles said the team needs to work on the mental side of the game as well as playing together rather than individually.

“Astronaut’s defense couldn’t handle the attack,” junior John Sorgenfrei said. “We had really good possession and passed around their team until spaced opened up between defenders making lanes for the ball to be slotted through for our forwards to run on to the ball and score.”

The team will continue the season on the home field Monday when they take on the Viera Hawks at 7 p.m.
