Adams leads Wildcats past Vipers

Scott Adams led the team in scoring with 23 points and dished out eight assists while sitting out the entire final period as the Wildcats routed the Space Coast Vipers on the road Monday night, 72-55.

Although the end of the game was lopsided in benefit for the Wildcats, the first quarter was the opposite.

The Vipers are winless against district teams and the Wildcats entered with what could have been considered too much confidence.

“We came in not focused and not ready to play,” Adams said. “But after being down by six (20-14) at the end of the first we picked it up in the second.”

The Wildcats once again turned up their defensive intensity and allowed only six points in the second quarter while scoring 21 points.

With 14 of his points coming in the second, Adams dominated the quarter. Then later in the third when the defense came at him, he showed off his passing skills, matching his season high eight assists. Sophomore guard Greg Taveras also chipped in with 12 points while the team’s leading scorer on the season, John Bond battled foul trouble.

The Wildcats improved their district record to 3-1 with the win against the Vipers and will face the Cocoa Tigers at home tomorrow in search for another district victory. Junior Varsity begins at 5:30 with the Varsity game following at 7 p.m.
