Lots of robots
Applying principles of math and science to the real world, Jill Whitacre’s sixth-period middle-school engineering class programs Lego Mindstorms robots to navigate through a course mapped out on the floor. “Kids really get excited about this,” Whitacre said. “They go through sound light, touch sensor and distance. This is the only school in Brevard that teaches this course, and I’m the only teacher. That’s the funny thing. I’m not an engineer, I’m a teacher.”
