Volunteering at the Brevard Zoo Sunday, senior MacKenzey Kologlu observes the python Gerber. Kologlu is unable to participate in preexisting animal handling activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “[Animal] handling was one of the biggest perks of volunteering with the Zoo,” she said. “I understand why it had to be stopped, because multiple people touching one animal can be a major transmission risk. It’s still really sad, though.”
