Blast off
During fifth period, senior Carissa Sage watches as the Project Whitworth experiment is launched into space. “I was so excited to see the launch and be able to honor Mr. [Jason] Whitworth,” science teacher Amy McCormick said. The experiment examines enzymes and chemicals that affect the progress of Amytrophic Lateral Sclerosis; its designers hope that the enzymes will function more effectively in space’s micro-gravity environment.
