Schedule costs library customers

The media center used to be my favorite spot to hang out. If I had time before school, I would go there and find a book, or use the computers to check email. After school, I would work on homework before swim practice — on Mondays and Wednesdays swim doesn’t start until 5:15 p.m., so I had nowhere to go and nothing to do. But now that the library closes at just a few minutes after the last bell rings, I hardly have time, even after power-walking from seventh, to stick a book in the book return slot. Most of the swim team has started going to the Melbourne Library to do homework before practice, and I don’t doubt that there are others who have substituted other libraries for the perfectly good one on campus on account of this inconvenience.

But it’s not just the afternoon traffic the media center is missing out on. I’ve found that because I get another library’s books and use another library’s computers, I don’t visit West Shore’s library in the mornings anymore. It seems to me that because of this seemingly minor time change, we are wasting valuable money and resources on maintaining a library that half of the school has abandoned.
