March of Dimes Wellness Walk scheduled for April 26

The March of Dimes for Babies Walk will be held Saturday April 26 at the Space Coast Stadium. The purpose of the walk is to raise funds and increase awareness for premature babies.

“I recommend that everyone tries to attend the event,” freshman Hali McCulloch said. “It is a fun time to spend with family and friends along with raising awareness for such an important cause.”

Premature birth is birth that happens sooner than 37 weeks. Babies with this problem usually either have health problems or may have to stay in the hospital several days after birth. In the United States one out of nine babies are born prematurely.

“I have had some family friends with premature babies,” junior Alicia Ortiz said. “It is a really difficult situation for the family; fortunately all of the babies have survived and have been in good health.”

Registration is at 7:30 a.m. on the day of the event and any time online here.
