Zumba fund-raiser on tap tonight

Get ready to shake and move Friday at Zumba night, a fund-raiser hosted from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium by the Purrfections dance team.  The cost to participate is $5 for students and $10 for adults.

Created by choreographer Alberto “Beto” Perez in the 1990s, Zumba is a Colombian dance and fitness program that incorporates hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, merenge, mambo and martial arts moves.

“We need to raise approximately $1,000 in order to compete at regionals this year,” Coach April Shaw said.

Zumba is a workout including fun dance moves and music to get people moving and grooving.  People of all ages are welcomed and the state winning soccer team is being advised to attend.

“I know it’s going to be really fun and hope from a good turn out,” freshman Megan Ward said. “We really need the support from the soccer team.”
