The theater department recently announced the fall musical will be “The Music Man.” The troupe is looking forward to the post-summer musical and reconnecting with friends. The classic is known for its scripted wit, its love story and family friendly fun numbers.
“I picked it because it’s been 10 years since we’ve done it which was when we opened the auditorium,” Director Maureen Fallon said. “It’s a great show and we have the characters to cast in it.”
Sophomore Devin Thrush said she’s is thrilled to be given the opportunity to be in the show when she comes back from summer vacation and hopes to be a part of the cast and possibly, get a lead or supporting role because it’s one of her “favorite musicals.”
“The musical itself I’m looking forward to,” she said. “I love all the music, all the dancing, all the parts, and I’m looking forward to, hopefully, getting a part. I was super-excited and I was definitely surprised because I was not expecting the all-school to be “The Music Man.’”
Thrush said the large ensemble show will provide an opportunity for middle-school students to share with the high-school students.
“There’s a lot of opportunities for dancers and for parts in general. It’s just a big cast and I think it’s going to be a great show,” Thrush said. “We have fantastic people in the troupe. I’m sure anyone in our troupe is capable of performing out the task of being a lead,”
Junior Mady Anderson said the troupe is full of talent waiting to be delivered on stage. She is excited for the opportunities that come with the show, for herself and others.
“I think that this is a fantastic choice for our rising upperclassmen,” Anderson said. “I’m really looking forward to all the group scenes and the dancing scenes and I’m looking forward to all the memories of the show because it’s my last all-school.”
Anderson also remarked that “The Music Man” is one of her favorites.
“This is one of my favorites,” Anderson said. “I’ve been in the junior production of this show before so I am in love with this musical and I am ecstatic to do it.”
