Fall musical opens on Oct. 13

Seniors Kaylee Embry, Lucas Blackwell, Nic Stelter and Annie Lovelock kick off the theater season with the presentation “Meet me In St. Louis” on Oct. 13  through Oct. 16. Starring as one of the leads, Stelter is Mr. Alanso Smith. The other leads go to Annie and Kaylee, who play Esther and Rose Smith, and Lucas Blackwell as John Truitt. Freshman Sabrina Torres and Natasha Mozdzen also got leads as Agnes and Tootie Smith.

Senior Ian Kennedy says that this is one of the most important shows that they do.

“It is an all school musical so it features everyone in grades 7-12,” he said. “This is a pretty big event for the theater department because it kicks off our season.”

For the high-schoolers, this is a busy time of the year because a week after the show, they have their district competition.

“Everyone involved in both the show and district events are extremely passionate and dedicated about theater, so even though we have two things going on, they’re both getting the same amount of work and effort,” said junior Rachel Montgomery, choreographer for the show.

Showtimes for “Meet me in St Louis” are Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m.

“For theater, we constantly have one show or event after another so were always busy, but we all live for the stage so its worth putting all the time in,” Montgomery said.
