Theater troupe prepares for competition
Preparing for their upcoming district one act competition, theater students in Troupe 6034 are practicing for their performance of “Riot,” a musical written and directed by seniors Joey Crown and Evy Sotolongo.
Students plan, write, practice and perform their own 30 minute plays or musicals for the district competition. If the judges choose Troupe 6034, then they will advance to the state-wide competition in January. The troupe began practice Saturday and members have begun to get a feeling for the musical.
“I’m enjoying it a lot. I’m a dancer/rioter, and we learned part of our dance and it’s super cool,” sophomore Jaida Condo said. “The music is edgy and modern. It’s really fun.”
Sophomore Lizzie Guerra said the troupe has must work to do.
“It’s a little inconvenient since we’re on such a crunch for time, but I think we can pull it off,” she said.
